Description

Major George W. Schofield of the 10th Cavalry and an army ordnance officer, designed this revolver as an improvement over Smith & Wesson’s No. 3 “American” model. Produced by S&W from 1875-1977, the U.S. Army ordered nearly 8,000 in the proprietary .45 Schofield cartridge and many saw service by the 4th Cavalry in the Geronimo campaign and by the buffalo soldiers of the 9th and 10th Cavalry. Schofields were also put to work by the notorious James-Younger gang, U.S. Marshal Bill Tilghman, and Custer’s chief of scouts “Lonesome Charley” Reynolds. Another roughly 1,000 guns were sold on the civilian market. Favored by many horse soldiers for its top-break, rapid ejection system, many considered it superior to the 1873 Colt Single Action for mounted work. In the 1880s, New York gun dealer Schuyler, Hartley Graham bought surplus Schofields, cut the barrels from 7 to 5 inches, and sold many of them to Wells Fargo & Company. Cimarron offers the Model No. 3 Schofield, the 2nd Model, copied directly from an original in Cimarron’s vast collection of antique firearms. It’s available in 5 inches in .38 Special or .45 Colt, or the cavalry length 7-inch barrel in .38 SP or .45 Colt. (.45 Colt chambered Cimarron Schofields also handle the .45 Schofield cartridge). Whether you are into the real Old West, or the “reel” West where hombre like the Schofield Kid from Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven, or gunman Charlie Prince from Russell Crowe’s 3:10 To Yuma, packed these top-break sixguns, you’ll enjoy owning a Cimarron Schofield! Markings: Left Grip: DAL Lt David A Lyle inspector Right Grip: CW Charles Woodman sub-inspector

True to the originals, Uberti Top Break Revolvers come in 3 models, including the Russian Model with Cyrillic barrel stampings. Major George Schofield designed the Top Break as a cavalry pistol. Its efficient, break-open design could be operated with one hand. That made it easy to eject the spent cartridges and reload while on horseback. It was the Russian government that truly embraced the new sidearm. The Czar ordered 41,000 Top Breaks. Those had a modified grip design, lanyard ring, and a distinctive trigger spur.

You can hang 'em high or paint the town red with this 1851 Navy cartridge conversion revolver. Either way, this spitting image replica of the 1851 Navy model used by Clint Eastwood in the 1960s spaghetti westerns will surely set you apart from the other six gunners! Retaining a Civil War-era, black powder style loading lever, yet converted to handle modern factory smokeless cartridges in .38 Colt or .38 S&W Special, this 7 1/2-inch, the octagonal barreled smoke wagon is finished in blue and color casehardening, with brass backstrap and trigger guard. The right walnut grip is uniquely inlaid with the Man with No Name's signature sterling silver rattlesnake, giving this revolver the appearance of being coiled and ready to strike! Here's a cartridge conversion sixgun, introduced by Cimarron that definitely stands out from the crowd!
