Description

Major George W. Schofield of the 10th Cavalry and an army ordnance officer, designed this revolver as an improvement over Smith & Wesson’s No. 3 “American” model. Produced by S&W from 1875-1977, the U.S. Army ordered nearly 8,000 in the proprietary .45 Schofield cartridge and many saw service by the 4th Cavalry in the Geronimo campaign and by the buffalo soldiers of the 9th and 10th Cavalry. Schofields were also put to work by the notorious James-Younger gang, U.S. Marshal Bill Tilghman, and Custer’s chief of scouts “Lonesome Charley” Reynolds. Another roughly 1,000 guns were sold on the civilian market. Favored by many horse soldiers for its top-break, rapid ejection system, many considered it superior to the 1873 Colt Single Action for mounted work. In the 1880s, New York gun dealer Schuyler, Hartley Graham bought surplus Schofields, cut the barrels from 7 to 5 inches, and sold many of them to Wells Fargo & Company. Cimarron offers the Model No. 3 Schofield, the 2nd Model, copied directly from an original in Cimarron’s vast collection of antique firearms. It’s available in 5 inches in .38 Special or .45 Colt, or the cavalry length 7-inch barrel in .38 SP or .45 Colt. (.45 Colt chambered Cimarron Schofields also handle the .45 Schofield cartridge). Whether you are into the real Old West, or the “reel” West where hombre like the Schofield Kid from Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven, or gunman Charlie Prince from Russell Crowe’s 3:10 To Yuma, packed these top-break sixguns, you’ll enjoy owning a Cimarron Schofield! Markings: Left Grip: DAL Lt David A Lyle inspector Right Grip: CW Charles Woodman sub-inspector

Born of the traditions of the Old West, the Rough Rider maintains much of the look and feel of the legendary Single Action Army revolver, only in a scaled-down version. Chambered for the .22LR and .22 Magnum cartridges, the Rough Rider is manufactured using state-of-the-art precision machinery that assures its accuracy and reliability. The cylinder lock-up is tight and the perfect timing of the action makes for a handgun that will put its shots where you want 'em. The machined barrel is micro-threaded and inserted into the frame for the optimal barrel/cylinder gap to give you maximum ammunition performance. A hammer block mounted in the recoil shield provides extra protection and has a red dot indicator that lets you know when the gun is ready for action. A new, more authentic looking flat-sided hammer paired with new exotic cocobolo grips, makes the Rough Rider both functional and handsome. There are also other grip materials available, plus finish options include the attractive and durable Smooth Silver Satin. When it comes to the Rough Rider there are no shortcuts taken! Ideal for hunting, plinking, or western action shooting, let the Rough Rider be your choice in a new rimfire revolver.

The 1873 peacemaker-style revolver, originally designed for the U.S. Cavalry, quickly became the archetypical sixgun of the frontier. Available in a number of powerful chamberings in different barrel lengths, besides the "peacemaker," it was also known by other monikers like "hogleg," smoke wagon," and "equalizer." In civilian hands, it quickly earned a reputation as a rugged, hard-hitting, well-balanced revolver and outsold all competitors. Men like Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, John Selman, the James-Younger gang, the Daltons, Texas, and later the Arizona Rangers, all packed this legendary arm and did their smoky work with it. With the coming of the Silver Screen, the Model P was reintroduced to an entirely new generation of admirers. In the hands of such Western stars as John Wayne, Roy Rogers, Hopalong Cassidy, Tom Selleck, Clint Eastwood, and countless others, this sixgun has earned lasting fame with shooters and Old West fans alike! Considered as the most authentic and highest quality reproduction of the 1873 Colt, Cimarron's replica was reproduced in every detail from an original 1873 single action in the Cimarron antique collection and was not replicated by working simply from drawings, as with previous reproductions. Cimarron also took extra steps to improve the gun's reliability with the Cowboy Compaction which eliminates weaknesses associated with the 19th-century design. Offered in the 7 1/2, 5 1/2, or 4 3/4-inch barrel lengths, in either the pre-1896-style Old Model with the cylinder base pin screw located in the front of the frame or the post-1896 Pre-War frame, where the cylinder base pin retaining screw is found on the side of the frame, in front of the cylinder. It comes in .32-20, .38-40, .38 Special/.357 Magnum, .44 Special, .44-40 or .45 Colt. Cimarron's Model P is the sixgun of the West!
